Engage and empower Fighting Illini student-athletes to embrace their own athletic experiences to enhance their growth and life preparation. | | | | | | | | |
Duties and Responsibilities | Duties are listed in order of greatest importance. Other responsibilities may be assigned. | | | % TIME | • | Educate • Provide advocacy, education, and advise a sustaining climate of unity and belonging within the DIA • Facilitate staff education using resources from the NCAA Office of Inclusion and Big Ten Conference • Engage with donors and alumni to share the DIA’s mission and vision Serve as a member of committees within the Division of Intercollegiate Athletics’ that focus on education, recruitment and retention, and unity • Collaborate with the student-athlete development staff to advise and oversee affinity groups and special programs • Promote a commitment to civility, respect for proper authority, and appreciation for life and property | 75% | • | Strategic Leadership • Aid in the development and implementation of programs and processes which serve to assure the welfare of all student-athletes • Routinely initiate independent communication and interaction with a wide range of individuals internal and external to the Division of Intercollegiate Athletics • Serve as a vehicle to promote understanding, empathy, communication, and respect amongst all people • Oversee the creation and distribution of unit-related graphics and social media content • Work closely with individuals and groups to build relationships and promote sports programs, the DIA, and the University • Serve as a visible, positive ambassador for University of Illinois and DIA in all public-facing responsibilities • Monitor processes and systems to ensure compliance with rules and regulations • Use initiative and experiences to resolve issues pertaining to program matters • Foster the strategic vision of the DIA to staff and coaches • Use Illinois Athletics and the traditions it embodies, old and new, as a platform to unify all stakeholders across the Illini life cycle, heal as needed, and propel our school spirit and campus pride forward with an emphasis of belonging | 25% | | | | | |
