Duties and Responsibilities | Duties are listed in order of greatest importance. Other responsibilities may be assigned. | | | % TIME | • | General Recruiting • Organize and execute the communication plan that involves types of engagement with prospective student-athletes, their families, high school coaches and administrators. This includes, but is not limited to; texts, calls, videos, social media and the frequency for each prospective student-athlete and high school coaches. • Advise football staff on special eligibility requirements, particularly as it pertains to NCAA and Big Ten Conference rules and regulations. • Oversee and manage the recruiting boards for the offensive and defensive sides of the ball. • Cultivate and enhance relationships with high school coaches and administrators and the state high school football coaches’ associations, prioritizing Illinois and emphasizing Ohio, Michigan and Indiana. • Review high school, junior college and one-time transfer transcripts for football prospects and administer a pre-evaluation to determine recruit ability and institutional fit. • Coordinate correspondence with high school coaches for camps, clinics, and general recruiting materials. • Manage direct-mail marketing and recruiting efforts to prospective student-athletes, high school coaches, and other important stakeholders. • Engage with local companies, restaurants, venues in the community to involve with recruiting events. • Assign student-athlete hosts and equip them with the necessary information to provide world class hospitality. • Coordinate meeting with recruiting coaches. | 50% | • | Admissions / Student-Athlete Transition Education and Coordination • Works in collaboration with the Compliance Office to determine NCAA initial and transfer eligibility for prospective student-athletes. • Educate and assist signed prospective student-athletes and their families through the NCAA initial and transfer eligibility process. • Collect, review and preliminary evaluate high school and transfer transcripts and communicate evaluation status with prospective student-athletes and families. • Educate football coaching staff on the of the eligibility standing of prospective and incoming student-athletes. • Assist with the collection of documents required to certify the eligibility of students who transfer to the University. • Serve as football admissions liaison. • Direct each recruit through the admissions cycle. Coordinate, review and advise department staff on transferability and applicability of non-University of Illinois courses that may affect ongoing requirements. Prepare requests for National Letter of Intent and Big 10 Tenders. • Educate and navigate prospective and current student-athletes throughout the completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Create programming for group and individual education sessions for prospective and current student athletes and their parents or legal guardians regarding but not limited to, first year student-athlete transition, incoming housing planning, student life preparation. | 20% | • | Official Visit Recruiting- • Coordinate travel arrangements for all prospective student-athletes and their families including flights, airport transportation, lodging accommodations, meals and special events with the goal to produce an on-campus visit that provides a long-lasting impression and experience. • Engage with prospective student-athletes and their families on official visits in a manner that attracts them the Fighting Illini Football program. • Effectively communicate official visit logistics to prospective student-athletes and their families. • Plan and direct campus tours during official visits. • Coordinate athletic ticket requests for official and unofficial visits for recruits, parents or legal guardians, student- athlete hosts and recruiting coaches. • Work with prospective student-athletes Guidance Counselor Offices to obtain copies of current transcripts, test scores, and school officials’ signatures per NCAA rules prior to campus visit. • Complete necessary and required official visit documentation for NCAA compliance. | 15% | • | Unofficial Visit Recruiting • Development of itineraries for multiple unofficial visits throughout the year. • Engage with prospective student-athletes and their families on un-official visits in a manner that attracts them the Fighting Illini Football program. • Supervise of assigned student employees and hosts during visits. • Direct assistant coaches to gather and share information regarding recruits (invites, family names, guest, etc.). • Coordinate athletic ticket requests for unofficial visits for prospective student-athletes and their families. • Complete necessary and required official visit documentation for NCAA compliance. | 15% | | | | | |
